The Apprentice and Trainee Training Fund provides subsidies to Skills Tasmania endorsed RTOs to provide training to Tasmanian apprentices and trainees.

The Fund is a rolling program that is released annually. Applications for each Fund round close at the end of the applicable calendar year.

1Eligibility for the Fund

Any Endorsed RTO can apply for the Fund provided they have the qualifications included in their scope of registration.

2Applying for the Fund

The Fund has eligibility, application and grant conditions which are outlined in the Grant Program Guidelines:

Applications for the Fund are to be completed and lodged online through SmartyGrants via the follow link:

3Which qualifications are available to be funded and how much is the subsidy?

The Qualifications approved and funded in Tasmania page provides details on which qualifications are available for funding under this program, along with the level of funding subsidy paid by Skills Tasmania.

It also explains how you can have a qualification added to the approved list of qualifications.

4Adding more training places for an existing qualification

You can add more training places for qualifications included in a current Apprentice and Trainee Training Fund agreement if you have exhausted all previously allocated places.

Details on how to do this are available in the Grant Program Guidelines. Please note that you do not need to wait for approval of the places from Skills Tasmania - this is a notification process not an application process.

If you would like to deliver a qualification not currently included in your Fund agreement, you must apply to have the qualification added to your agreement.

Applications must be lodged online through SmartyGrants.

5What if the qualification has been superseded?

If a qualification within your existing Fund agreement has been superseded or replaced, you must apply to vary your agreement to include the new version of the qualification. The applications to do so can be found here:

It is important to apply to vary your Agreement as soon as the qualifications are updated and available on the Skills Tasmania Qualifications approved as an apprenticeship or traineeship list or on www.training.gov.au.
