Skills Tasmania

29 April 2020 – Support to boost staff skills and training

The Tasmanian Government's number one priority is the health, safety and wellbeing of every Tasmania's as we work through the challenges of COVID-19.

We have put in place support packages to assist businesses and workers during these difficult times, but we are also supporting businesses to increase their skills and prepare for the recovery.

Today we are releasing our new $1.5 million Train Now Fund which will subsidise training for existing workers and sole traders during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The funding will mean employers are ready to resume normal operations with stronger capabilities and boost their sustainability and future productivity.

Under the program, registered training organisations provide training for local employers and workers in any sector to gain new or enhanced skills, and this will enable businesses to increase future productivity to support economic recovery and growth.

Train Now Fund applications can be submitted on an ongoing basis until 30 September 2020, or until available funds are fully committed.

The Train Now Fund is part of our $6.3 million Rapid Response Skills Initiative, and along with the Rapid Response Skills Matching Service and Rapid Response Skills Training Support program is supporting businesses and workers when they need it most.
